Who We Are

About Us
Although change is always a difficult game to handle, we believe that holding the tensions between young and old, tradition and cutting edge, is essential to displaying the beauty of diversity within the body of Christ. We are “many members but one body,” and we strive to look like it.
Furthermore, at LBBC we do not believe the church was ever intended to be a professional organization, but rather a grass roots community. We are not looking to add loads of programs overseen by a gifted managerial staff (i.e. pastors). That is not to say the church should not be organized. Effective communities always are. But we believe in holistic lay ministry. We are just a community of people that have as our core passion the glory of Jesus Christ, and we seek to incorporate that passion into every corner of our lives. We are a simple church at work for Jesus in our homes, workplaces, and anywhere else we can be found.
There is much more to share about our church, so please clink on a link to find out more.
We are a church of the living and reigning Jesus Christ, who has entered the world to bring all the evil of our hearts, all the oppression of our societies, and all the suffering of our lives to ruin. He died to change things. That being the case, it is not surprising that we are a church in change. Of course, all churches should be in a sort of permanent transition moving towards a grander reflection of Jesus Christ, but our church is undergoing more change than normal.
Transition is happening in many ways. First, as of July 2007, LBBC has a new pastor, Dan Strong, following the 30 plus years of Jack Stanley.
More On Us
Secondly, we are seeking to hold fast to the gospel of Jesus Christ and our Baptist heritage while at the same time “contextualizing” the gospel to a “post Christian” generation. We are maintaining some of our traditional forms of worship while incorporating others. We are growing both in our maturity and our desire to reach others. We are mostly an older congregation that is adding younger people.
